Why Choose Waterhout For Your Next Project
The Waterhout team is dedicated to provide top quality, “value added” performance to your project.
We begin with a thoughtful and complete bid providing carpentry labor, materials, suppliers and/or General Work Packages for your commercial or residential project. Often, we have provided value engineering where desired.
Both our estimates and our field performance are based on over 50 years of experience providing carpentry for a wide spectrum of commercial, residential and rehabilitation projects.
In the field we employ a team of highly trained carpenters dedicated to the quality and safety of our work. All of our carpenters have completed OSHA 10 safety training, and all Foremen have completed OSHA 30 safety training.
We believe good communication is vital to high quality work. Our office and field work together with top quality field management to maintain the best service to you and your project.

Our History
In the winter of 1962, Waterhout Construction was founded by Robert Waterhout. With only 3 carpenters, the company began as a general contractor. A chance meeting with a builder led to Waterhout being subcontracted to help build a subdivision, a novel idea.
During the 1970s, the government offered incentives to rebuild and rehabilitate the city. Robert had the expertise and was willing to take the risk of bidding on the rehab work. Waterhout succeeded in restoring and stimulating the existing architectural details while maintaining the original integrity of the buildings. Hundreds of units were revitalized by Waterhout over the next 10 years.
Then came the Fabulous Fox Theatre. A few general contractors had caught on to rehabilitation programs and thus began Waterhout’s involvement with commercial contractors.
In 1985, Renee Bell purchased Waterhout Construction from her father and the company secured its largest contract yet, the conversion of the Admiral Riverboat into an entertainment venue. That marked the year Waterhout hit its stride, soon after jobs took them to Pasadena, Tyson’s Corner, Barcelona, Las Vegas, and Berlin.
Waterhout Construction marks each project with a degree of integrity and quality of work that has afforded them a sterling reputation in the St. Louis area for more than 50 years.
